The narrative on the first class degree claim by Minister of Petroleum Resources Dr. Ibe Kachikwu is becoming more interesting as information obtained from the ministry of Petroleum Resources website actually ascribed the first degree to the minister.
An online news platform had reported that the claims by Kachikwu that he bagged a first class from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, (UNN), Enugu was false.
The embattled minister had refuted the allegation saying he never claimed to have bagged a first class from the Eastern Nigerian university.
But the information on paragraph 10 on Kachikwu’s profile, posted on the petroleum ministry’s website confirmed the online’s report on the false claims of the minister.
“Dr. Ibe Kachikwu is a distinction graduate of Law from the University of Nigeria Nsukka and Nigerian Law School.
He bagged First Class degree in Law and was best graduand and multiple awards winner from both Institutions,” the information on the ministry’s website read.
The information continued: “He bagged a Masters in Law (LLM) with special focus on Energy and Petroleum Law and Investment and a Doctorate Degree with specialization on Petroleum and Investment Law Strategies from Harvard Law School, USA where he was the best graduate with Distinction and in the process set a record time for completing Doctoral Thesis”.
It should be noted that since posting the information over three years ago by the Petroleum Ministry, the minister had neither denied nor protested the claim.
