In order to reduce medical tourism in abroad by some Nigerians, National Orthopaedic hospital has partners with Crestview and Siemens Healthineers to open an ultramodern diagnostic centre equipped with state of the art imaging modality.
Speaking on the behalf of the partners , the Managing Director of Swiss Biostadt Limited, Mr. Emma Ajayi disclosed that the ultra modern diagnostics centre would plays a key role in the vision of the nation with the belief that Nigeria has the potential to become one of the leading healthcare services provider in the world.
Ajayi said that the latest MRI machine which is 1.5 Tesla installed in the centre would provides accurate investigation of brain, spine and joints. Also, accident victim with head injury can easily be scanned thereby saving more lives, adding that it is capable of carrying out studies of liver, biliary tree (MRCPs) and pelvic organs.
He stated that the partnership with Siemens Healthineers would reduce medical tourism abroad by some Nigerians.
He noted that instead of travelling abroad for medical check-up, with the help of this equipment installed in Nigeria, it will take care of this.
He explained that many Nigerians travel to others countries such as India and the UK for various treatments including cardiac surgeries, neurosurgeries, cosmetic surgeries, orthopedic surgeries, and renal transplant surgeries, adding that Nigeria spend $20 billion on medical tourism annually which is not good for Nigeria economy.
He explained that his company- Swiss Biostadt which is a leading light in the healthcare sector in the Nigeria economy would transform the health sector in few years to come.
