Fashion Rebirth is a movement aimed primarily at beaming the spotlight on emerging indigenous fashion designers and linking them with big fashion buyers in order to infiltrate our boutiques with made in Nigerian clothes.
The Fashion Rebirth project dreams of reviving the textile industry which will consequently affect the agricultural sector positively. This movement has the capacity to drive the growth and development of micro, small and medium enterprises many of which are skills-based services.
Coordinator and Visionaire of Fashion Rebirth, Vivian Zadok, made the disclosure in a pre-event press statement issued in Abuja..
She stressed that Fashion Rebirth is a movement that seeks to change our orientation and also to be a platform that serves as spring board for designers. At the maiden edition last year, established professionals in the fashion industry shared their growth stories to inspire and mentor the emerging designers.
Important personalities who spoke at the event were; the State Manager of Bank of Industry, Director-General of National Council for Arts and Culture and the Director-General of Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (SMEDAN).
These reputable governmental organizations supported and endorsed the movement. They spoke about facilities provided by the government to aid small businesses and how to access them, held business clinic to stress the importance of starting small and learning the business aspect of the trade before expanding and most importantly encouraged Nigerians generally to embrace our culture and promote our indigenous manufacturers. This would ultimately provide job opportunities to our teeming youths and will better position Nigeria on the global fashion map as favourable destination and attract international investment.
